The next step involves using Frank X. Jelenek’s Journey to the Heart, Centering Prayer for Children, published by Paraclete Press and adapting it for youth.

Dear Father in Heaven:
help me say the prayer you gave me.
For my mother and father
For my family and friends
For my generation and
For all who have gone before me
down through the ages.
Let them be happy serving and praising you and
May you be delighted with their childlike curiosity and awe,
As you walk with them in your beautiful garden.
Rescue all who have turned from you.
Send your mighty angels to battle for their souls.
Move them to a place where we can pray for them.
May our prayers help to send them back home to you,
the Almighty Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Even before you were born, God knew you name.

On my walk this morning, Jesus asked, “Are you using your time wisely?”
My answer was, “I think so.” After a couple of years, I have started walking again. I finally decided to make walking a priority in my life. Walking may help my body a little, and it may even help my doctors in evaluating my barrage of tests.
Later, another answer came, “If I am not doing the right thing, I am open to suggestions from your Spirit.” I realize the Holy Spirit is a powerful influence in selecting my path. Sometimes I am even aware of his gentle nudges.
Thomas and Evie arrived at Diekman’s drug store about 2:30pm.
“Come on Evie let’s get something to drink and wait inside for Char.”
“Now that is what I call super fantastic idea. We better not talk about the case until the charming and brilliant Chief Detective arrives.”
The soda counter waitress asks Thomas, “What would you like?”
“I’ll have a root beer float with root beer ice cream. Do you know what you want Evie.”
“Certainly my adventurous Mr. Eagle Eye. I’ll have a medium sized vanilla sarsaparilla with a red maraschino cherry.”
“You’ve got to be kidding Fluffy.”
“Thomas, please don’t start calling me that. You know I don’t like it.”
“Okay Evie, I’ll be nice.”
Charlotte arrives as the drinks are served.
“Make mine a medium diet Pepsi please.”
When the waitress left Charlotte asks, “Was your trip to the bank successful?”
Comment: These drinks sound pretty good … for a hot day like today (5/17/08).

Help me to LISTEN.
It seems like I do all the talking.
